Shoulder width
The distance across your back from one shoulder tip to the other. This determines how the kaftan sits on your frame.

Stand relaxed with your arms at your sides

Have a friend measure straight across your back

From the bony tip of one shoulder to the other
Short sleeve
From your shoulder seam down to where you want the short sleeve to end - usually mid-upper arm.

Start at the very top of your shoulder seam

Measure straight down the outside of your arm

Stop where you want the sleeve hem to fall
Long sleeve
From your shoulder seam all the way down to your wrist bone.

Bend your arm slightly at the elbow

Measure from shoulder seam along the outside of the arm

Stop at your wrist bone
Three quarter sleeve
From your shoulder seam down to just below the elbow - halfway between elbow and wrist.

Measure down the outside of your arm

Stop roughly halfway between elbow and wrist
Chest measurement
Around the fullest part of your chest. This is one of the most important measurements for your kaftan fit.

Stand upright with arms relaxed at your sides

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms

Keep the tape parallel to the floor - not too tight, not too loose
Stomach (Tummy)
Around the widest part of your stomach. This ensures your kaftan drapes comfortably without pulling.

Stand naturally - do not suck in

Find the widest part of your stomach, usually around the belly button
3
Wrap the tape snugly but with a little breathing room
Top length
From the highest point of your shoulder straight down to just below your knee cap. This is the full length measurement for the top of your kaftan.

Measure straight down the front of your body

Stop just below your knee cap
Neck circumference
Around the base of your neck. This helps us size your neckline for both comfort and style.

Hold the tape at the base of your neck

Wrap all the way around loosely

Add 1 inch for a comfortable fit
Round arm
Around the fullest part of your upper arm. This ensures the sleeve opening is comfortable and not too tight.

Relax your arm at your side

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your upper arm

Usually just below the armpit
Trouser length
From your waist down to the floor. This is the full length for trousers worn to the ankle.

Knee length
From your waist down to the centre of your knee. Use this if you want a knee-length garment.

Calf point
From your waist down to mid-calf - between the knee and the ankle. Good for midi-length styles.

Waist measurement
Around your natural waistline - the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button.

Wrap tape snugly but not tight
Hip measurement
Around the fullest part of your hips. Ensures the kaftan drapes elegantly without pulling.

Usually about 8-9 inches below your waist
Laps (thigh)
Around the fullest part of your thigh. Important for trousers and fitted lower garments.

Stand with feet slightly apart

Wrap tape around the fullest part of your upper thigh

Just below where the thigh meets the seat
Calf measurement
Around the fullest part of your calf muscle. Used for fitted trousers and tapered styles.

Stand with weight evenly on both feet

Wrap tape around the widest part of your calf

Usually about halfway down your lower leg
Bottom (seat)
Around the fullest part of your seat. This determines trouser and lower garment fit.
